Universidad Europea de Valencia bets on the practice-based method in Physiotherapy

08 sep 2022

Universidad Europea de Valencia allows the students to start their Physiotherapy internships from the first year and little by little to carry out real work in more than 30 health institutions, public and private centers, within the Valencia region.

On September 8th every year, World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated. The best way to celebrate this date is by dedicating time to one’s health and trying to achieve a balanced lifestyle, which includes physical activity and exercise as a main axis. To achieve this, it is essential to take special care of our musculoskeletal system, eliminate stress, exercise and meditate.

Studying the Physiotherapy degree at Universidad Europea de Valencia (UEV) is one of the best options for someone considering studying this degree. Taking advantage of World Physiotherapy Day, we have Francisco Javier González, coordinator of the UEV Physiotherapy degree, who tells us how this day can be celebrated. “It is vitally important to know how to place physiotherapy within the field of health and, therefore, to know that it is one more tool, available to all people in order to improve their health”.

But why study Physiotherapy at UEV? Javier highlights that the UEV is recognised as one of the five best universities in Spain in the training of physiotherapists, according to a well-known ranking.

“At our university, from the first year, you have all the theoretical-practical classes in the degree. Another aspect, by which we differentiate ourselves, is the academic model. Right now we are promoting simulation, which consists of bringing in actors from outside. A clinical case is presented and we bring this actor to deal with everyday issues. Thus, it is the first approach of the physio with the patient,” he said.

And he continued: “Personally, I like to say that physiotherapists (like other health professionals) are a source of knowledge and advice that we are going to provide to our patients. But in the end, all treatment depends on the patient's own involvement. The physiotherapist's sessions will serve to periodically monitor the progress of the treatment and the patient's recovery. Likewise, they help us to be able to adapt to the situation and the different circumstances that we encounter during the patient's evolution”
