Certifications and Recognitions

NAAB

NAAB_UniversidadEuropeaDeMadrid2015-2021_width-500.png

The Universidad Europea de Madrid has received the International Certification designation from the National Architectural Accrediting Board for the following professional degree program or sequence:

Bachelor’s Degree in Fundamentals of the Architecture + Master’s Degree in Architecture – 2015

The term “International Certification” identifies a program as comparable in educational outcomes in all significant aspects to a program accredited by the NAAB in the United States and indicates that it provides an educational experience meeting acceptable standards, even though such program may differ in format or method of delivery. The designation is valid for six years beginning 1 January of the year in which the final visit (Visit 3) took place. In order to maintain the designation, the program must be visited again in the sixth year of the designation. Schools with programs identified as holding NAAB International Certification are not formally “accredited” as that term is used with reference to programs in the United States and may not refer to their programs as “accredited” by the NAAB. However, students who graduate from internationally certified programs are able to apply for individualized review of their credentials on an expedited basis for purposes of the Educational Evaluation Services for Architects program administered by the NAAB on behalf of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards

In 2019, the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) validated the Bachelor’s Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and the Master’s Degree in Architecture.

RIBA is the most prestigious architects’ association in the world, and counts the most globally recognised architects among its members. The association has been dedicated to promoting the quality of architect training since 1837.

PROJECT: ARE: Architecture for the Rural Enviroment

Our students developed an initial architectural analysis and proposal as well as a final, full-scale proposal for a joint project in the subjects of ‘Integrated Projects I and II’ in the Bachelor’s in Fundamentals of Architecture. The overarching objective is to carry out a comprehensive educational experience: from the architectural ideation, to the contextualisation of the proposal, its design, usability, technical solutions and, finally, the details and construction of the model itself.

Thank you to the team: Marina Salis, Maria Brasiliense, Nicolle Da Silva, Roberta Martinez, Lore Lya Labropoulos, Andrea Arbayza, Fiorella Gaseo, Jennyfer Alvarado, Licelio Massano, Katia Veramendi, Allyson Vila Nicoles Zaga, Karol Prado, loanna Richani, Ana Rodriguez, Alessandro Mazzi, Elina Lehmusvuo, Elisa Wilcock, Stella Lembcke, Tymaa lsaa.

External internship regulations

Internships are a key component of your training. Acquiring experience after what you have learnt in your degree is the best way to enter the employment market. There are two types of internships: curricular—which are included in your study plan—and extracurricular—which you can do on a voluntary basis.

In order to complete curricular internships in companies, you will need to have 50% of the credits approved and to register the subject before starting your internship. These internships are monitored by the company and the internship coordinator, and interim and final reports are prepared for evaluation.

If you want to take your work experience to the next level before finishing your university education, you can pursue an extra-curricular internship. You can do them in any academic year, but keep in mind that internships are a formative complement to your studies; therefore, the more knowledge you have acquired throughout your studies, the more you will benefit from the internship experience.

Studying architecture in Madrid is a big and important decision. Architects are technicians, but also artists. They are people who are innately attuned to the aesthetics of shapes: they are creative and imaginative by nature. Some of these skills can be learned, but others will be intrinsic to the student. You will work on developing and perfecting these during your years of training.
