The School of Architecture is located on the Tenerife campus of the Universidad Europea, in the town of La Orotava, which is made up of renovated historical buildings such as Casa Salazar and Extensions I and II of Casa Salazar.
The roads surrounding Casa Salazar and both extensions have been partially pedestrianised. Around the area there are a large number of unique buildings of historical and artistic value, which coexist with public open spaces and public administrative centres such as the town hall, the courts, health centres, the post office, the library, etc. Many different types of activities are carried out in this area of campus. While the upper floors are used for residential purposes, other parts are used for commercial activity—as offices, restaurants, and hotels—as well as tourist activity. The latter is due to the fact that this part of the island, Villa de la Orotava, has become a tourist attraction due to its gorgeous architectural monuments. In fact, the historic neighbourhood of La Orotava is now one of the best-preserved in the Canary Islands, and is a great example of sustainable tourism.
