Until February 2020, the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) certified Universidad Europea de Madrid’s Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (taught at its campus in Villaviciosa de Odón in Madrid). The accreditation is subject to the satisfactory compliance with progress reports requested by WCPT and the submission of an annual report. WCPT accreditation is a prestigious endorsement for the Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy, as it guarantees that the most demanding training standards are met, not only nationally, but also internationally.
Universidad Europea de Madrid is now fully accredited by EuropeActive Standards (until 2022), meaning it fulfils all the necessary quality-assurance requirements to train students to become a: fitness instructor, group fitness instructor, personal trainer, or exercise-for-health specialist. This certificate assures that students are completely qualified to work as professionals and are capable of protecting and boosting the health and interests of those who use their services. In this way, the students can demonstrate the skills and competencies required by the EuropeActive Standards. At the individual level, qualified professionals are recognised by the European Registry of Physical Exercise Professionals (EREPS), where they can be registered after completing their training.
Universidad Europea de Madrid is one of four Madrid universities that participated in 2017 in designing the SISCAL programme, a new certification model that was launched by the madri+d Knowledge Foundation in 2018. This model responds to the need to comply with the institutional accreditation approved by Royal Decree 420/2015, of 29 May. In 2018, we were the first university in Madrid to present one of our centres—the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Sciences—for evaluation under this programme. After undergoing this evaluation, from 2020 onwards, the School of Exercise and Sport Sciences is certified as having successfully implemented the IQAS under the SISCAL model, with the centre receiving the corresponding institutional accreditation.
