The young woman is a second year physiotherapy student and represents the University in these championships
The young student of Universidad Europea de Canarias, Lilias Tebbaï, won the Spanish University Surfing Championship, which took place on 24 and 25 April at the Somo Surf Centre in Ribamontán al Mar, Cantabria. Tebbaï is a second year student in the Physiotherapy degree and has competed representing the University.
Lilias Tebbaï was born in Casablanca in 2003 into a surfing family and has been surfing for sixteen years. She has been six times champion of Morocco and once champion of Africa, among many other achievements. In parallel to her studies of Physiotherapy at Universidad Europea de Canarias, Lilias continues her sporting career through rigorous and constant physical training and good mental, nutritional and postural preparation.
One of her main goals for this year is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, through the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Championship. And in this process, his recent medal at the university championships in Cantabria is one more step towards this ambitious goal.
He also assures that, also in 2024, he wants to "achieve success in my second year at Universidad Europea de Canarias", a university to which he is deeply grateful for "the support it has given me to be able to compete in this championship in Cantabria".
The rector of Universidad Europea de Canarias, Cristiana Oliveira, expressed her pride and enormous satisfaction for this achievement of Lilias Tebbaï and recalled that "teamwork, discipline, resilience and leadership are some of the skills that students learn within the academic model of Universidad Europea, which allows them to better face professional life, in general, and sport, in particular".
He also values the fact that Universidad Europea is part of the Spanish University Sports Committee (CEDU), "which allows us to go a step beyond classroom training, supporting our students who are trained and prepared to compete at the highest level".
It is worth remembering that Universidad Europea is recognised in the prestigious Shanghai Ranking as the best Spanish university and 41st in the world in Sports Sciences.
