Universidad Europea de Canarias has achieved third place in the Young Entrepreneurial University 2024 category at the prestigious Triple E Awards, an international distinction awarded by the Accrediting Council for Enterprising and Engaged Universities (ACEEU) to individuals and institutions of Higher Education that promote change and positively impact the economic and social development of their communities through entrepreneurship.

The Canarian academic institution has also managed to be a finalist, within the top five, in the Student-led Impact Initiative 2024, leaving behind important international universities that have presented their projects.

In this regard, the rector of Universidad Europea de Canarias, Cristiana Oliveira, recognised ‘the important work that has been done by the university to create the entrepreneurial ecosystem that has allowed us to be among the finalists for this important award, an effort that is achieved thanks to the joint work of faculty and students’.

In the Young Entrepreneurial University category, Universidad Europea de Canarias firm commitment to the entrepreneurial spirit and the development of business culture among students through the Employability and Entrepreneurship Unit, also contributing to the enrichment of the regional business fabric, has been highlighted in order to reach the final.

With regard to the Student-led Impact Initiative award, the digital marketing project Marketing Dupla, led by two young students, Janina Jiménez, from Universidad Europea de Canarias, and Miriam Gabasa, from the San Jorge University of Zaragoza, was presented. This entrepreneurial initiative is part of the UEmprende programme, run by the Department of Employability and Entrepreneurship of the European University.

Thanks to this programme, the students have gone from having an idea to building a prosperous future, and have not only grown as entrepreneurs, but also as people, learning to tackle problems, make decisions and overcome challenges together.

All these actions stem from the European University's Strategic Plan and the European research project Accelerate Horizon.

The awards ceremony took place at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and the event was attended by the rector Cristiana Oliveira, the vice-dean of the School of Architecture, Juan Diego López Arquillo, and the young finalist students.
