The prestigious Shanghai Ranking recognises Universidad Europea as the best Spanish private university in Sports Sciences
New success for the Universidad Europea, in the field of Sports Sciences. The latest edition of one of the most reputable rankings worldwide, the Shanghai Ranking, has positioned the Universidad Europea as the 41st best in the world and the best Spanish private university in the field of sport.
For the Dean, Simone Sato, this great positioning is "a further demonstration of the permanent commitment of the European University to academic excellence, research and the professionalisation of all branches of the sports and health field, one of the fundamental pillars of the Institution".
This new recognition comes in a particularly important year. It is the year in which the Sports Employability Network has been launched, an observatory that allows the promotion of employment and the young talent of the students of Universidad Europea. It is also the year in which the Olympic Studies and Research Centre has been inaugurated, recognised for its contribution to research by the Spanish Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee.
This milestone is in addition to the recent one achieved by the institution in the Standford Ranking where, thanks to Alejandro Lucía (5) and Vicente Javier Clemente (12), it was the only private Spanish institution that managed to position two researchers among the best in Sports Sciences.
The ranking, which has been published since 2016, analyses around 460 universities that have faculties, departments or units related to Sports Sciences. To establish its ranking, it analyses a series of indicators related to research: it takes into account the number of scientific resources published on the Web of Science (WoS) platform over the last five years, the total number of citations and their number per publication, the papers collected by scientific journals ranked in the top 25% in the world, as well as publications that include international collaborations.
