On 22 and 23 May, the Junior Achievement Foundation held the largest national Entrepreneurship Competition for young people aged 14 to 30 who demonstrated their entrepreneurial potential through pop-up stands and a sales pitch to a jury.

In the ‘Startup Programme’ category, the Universidad Europea was the university with the largest representation of teams. It had 5 entrepreneurial projects among the 15 finalists from all over Spain: Oxys, QuickTrip and Exonem, from the Universidad Europea de Madrid, Cat-Ly, from the Universidad Europea de Valencia and The Marketing Dupla, from the Universidad Europea de Canarias.

More than 9,000 students from all over Spain have participated in Junior Achievement's entrepreneurship programmes during the 2023/2024 academic year. Only the 30 best projects, 15 in the Startup Programme category and 15 in the mini-companies category, competed for one of the 19 prizes awarded by prestigious organisations such as Naturgy, PwC, FedEx and Madrid City Council.

Of the 7 prizes assigned to the category for universities, two of the European University projects have been awarded: QuickTrip, with the BNY Mellon Resilient Futures Award, receiving an economic endowment of €1,000 and a coaching session, and Oxys, with the PwC ESG Impact Award of the same value. Both have attracted the attention of the jury for the overall viability of the project, the scalability of the business model and the sustainable nature of the solution.

QuickTrip is represented by Martín Romero, a student of the Degree in Aerospace Engineering, in which he has developed, together with two other students, a carpooling platform that allows carpooling at the exit of major events, in collaboration with the main ticketing companies in the country. For its part, Oxys, represented by Pierpaolo Fiori, a veterinary student, is working on a research project to increase the production times of insects for the manufacture of animal feed, fertilisers or the production of pellets, among other products.
