Study Plan
Module 1 - Unlocking the Power of Sports Data: Fundamentals (6 credits)
This module introduces the fundamental concepts of sports data. Students will learn how data is collected, managed, and applied in various sports. The importance of data analysis in sports decision-making will also be introduced.
Module 2 - Managing Sports Data: Databases and Infrastructure (6 credits)
This module teaches students how to build and manage sports-specific databases using tools like SQL and NoSQL. Students will learn how to organize large volumes of data, ensuring proper storage and efficient access for analysis.
Module 3 - Coding the Game: Programming for Sports Analytics (18 credits)
In this module, students will learn how to use programming languages such as Python and R to conduct sports data analysis. The module will cover automating analysis tasks and creating predictive models. Additionally, AI tools like ChatGPT will be incorporated to assist in programming and solving complex problems more efficiently.
Module 4 - From Numbers to Narratives: Data Visualization (6 credits)
This module focuses on effectively visualizing sports data to communicate analysis and results to different audiences. Students will learn how to use tools like Tableau and Power BI to create clear and comprehensible graphical representations of sports data.
Module 5 - Advanced Machine Learning and AI in Sports (6 credits)
This module addresses advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques applied to sports. Students will learn how to use predictive algorithms to improve player and team performance, optimizing tactics and strategies based on both historical and real-time data.
Module 6 - Football Analytics: Metrics and Performance (6 credits)
This module is dedicated to the specific analysis of football performance. Key metrics will be explored to evaluate both individual player performance and team performance. Scouting and workload management will also be included.
Module 7 - Data Analytics in Basketball, Handball and other sports (6 credits)
In this module, students will apply the principles of sports analytics to other popular European sports, such as basketball and handball. The module will highlight similarities and differences in the use of data and analytics between these sports, teaching students how to adapt their skills to various sporting contexts.
Module 8 - Final Project (6 credits)

- To be in possession of a University Degree.
- If applicable, accredit professional experience of at least 6 months that is directly related to the field of the degree.
- If applicable, accredit professional internships of CFGS that are directly related to the scope of the degree.
