Reading is the vehicle of knowledge and the tool to connect with other people's experiences and emotions or to allow us to immerse ourselves in stories and scenarios that would otherwise be unimaginable
To commemorate Book Day and pay tribute to the best path towards personal and professional growth, the Universidad Europea has focused on this event by carrying out numerous activities on all its campuses. The libraries, those temples of knowledge, have been the main protagonists in the different actions carried out by the University Life and Social Commitment Unit, together with the different libraries of Universidad Europea
The CRAI Library "Dulce Chacón", of Universidad Europea, witnessed the recording of three chapters of School of Life, the extracurricular training programme of Universidad Europea, which works on the development of transversal competences of the students. The podcast in this cycle is sharing space with members of the educational community of the Universidad Europea to learn about their experience in the world of writing, their professional journey and how the experience as authors came into their lives. The dean of the School of Architecture, Engineering and Design (STEAM), Alberto Sols; Pedro Lara, deputy director of the STEAM School; and Teresa Ramírez, head of Counseling at Universidad Europea; have been the guests during the celebration of the Book Day.
The students of Universidad Europea de Madrid, in the space "La Bombilla"; and those of Universidad Europea de Valencia, in their CRAI Library "José Planas"; had the opportunity to consult the books on display of different literary styles, make puzzles, decorate bookmarks with their favourite literary quotes and create booknooks.
The libraries of Universidad Europea of Valencia and Madrid have also been a space of enjoyment for students, who have been able to experience a Scape Room where books were essential to escape from the room. They also attended a debate on Classical Literature & Young Adult.
Universidad Europea de Canarias held numerous activities to commemorate the event. The "Casa Salazar" Hall, on the Orotava campus, witnessed the Fore Edge Paintint activity, where students were able to explore the creativity found on the pages of their books through the edge painting technique. They were also introduced to the latest literary news and were able to participate in the literary quotation board.
The students also enjoyed the activities virtually, touring the Institution's library spaces telematically and attending the exhibitions prepared for the day.
In the almost three decades of Universidad Europea existence, the Institution has shown that it is firmly committed to research, innovation and the transmission of knowledge. The activities carried out to commemorate this day highlight the students' enthusiasm for reading and the transmission of knowledge that comes from its practice.
