Universidad Europea has consolidated its international standing in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, standing out for the strengthening of its research profile and the inclusion of new strategic areas in one of the world’s most rigorous academic rankings.

The institution has entered the ‘Sports-related Subjects’ category for the first time, achieving 137th place globally. This milestone places it amongst a select group of Spanish universities active in this field and reinforces its strategic commitment to sport. The University is also the leading private university in all the regions where it operates.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject highlights Employer Reputation as a key differentiating factor in this regard, thereby enhancing the standing of its researchers in this area.

The institution also excels in the field of Medicine. In this regard, it has improved on the previous edition and maintains its position in one of the most competitive subjects within the Spanish system. This is a significant achievement, underpinned by a consistent research base, which consolidates the strength of the University’s health sciences department.

According to Juan José Rodríguez Martín, Vice-Chancellor for Innovation, Quality and Accreditation, “this recognition reflects our academic strength and the international standing that Universidad Europea has achieved in strategic areas such as Sport and Medicine. Our presence in subject-specific rankings such as QS attests to the quality of our research, the employability of our graduates and the relevance of our academic model”.

For her part, Simone Sato, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Sport at Universidad Europea de Madrid, believes that “the institution’s commitment to integrating sport and medicine as strategic fields of knowledge, training and research is key to this recognition”. She also notes that the university’s inclusion in this highly significant ranking “reflects an academic model that connects science, health and performance, and which prepares professionals capable of responding to current challenges through an interdisciplinary approach and a commitment to excellence”.

The results for Sport and Health in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject reinforce the institution’s position in international rankings and its firm commitment to research excellence. They also join other accolades in this field, such as the Shanghai Ranking, which ranks Universidad Europea as the best private university in Spain and among the top 30 sports faculties in the world.
