The project that studies the benefits of the percutaneous neuromodulation technique for the treatment of side effects induced by chemotherapy has been awarded in the 5th Call for Research Grants in Physiotherapy
New recognition for research and knowledge transfer at Universidad Europea. The research led by Carlos Romero, professor and coordinator of the PhD programme in Biomedicine and Health Sciences, has won the prize in the 5th Call for Research Grants in Physiotherapy of the Illustrious College of Physiotherapists of the Community of Madrid. The research, as Carlos Romero explains, ‘was born out of a commitment to contribute value to the scientific community and society and aims to study the benefits of the percutaneous neuromodulation technique to treat the side effects caused by chemotherapy’.
The award-winning study, ‘Efficacy of percutaneous ultrasound-guided percutaneous neuromodulation for the treatment of peripheral neuropathies caused by chemotherapy’, has not only involved the participation of Carlos Romero, but also other members of Universidad Europea: the tenured lecturer Mónica de la Cueva, the PhD student Sara Mogedano and the lecturer Jaime Almazán.
The prize has a financial endowment of 20,000 euros which, as the researchers involved explain, will help them to continue advancing research in the field of physiotherapy: ‘This award represents a valuable recognition of the effort and dedication of our team, and encourages us to continue innovating in the field of physiotherapy. The financial support will allow us to accelerate our current projects and explore new lines of research that can have a positive impact on clinical practice and the wellbeing of cancer patients. It is an encouragement to continue working with passion and commitment towards excellence in research’.
