The Universidad Europea de Madrid and Banco Santander announce the Santander Progress Scholarships with the aim of facilitating access to higher education for students with the best academic records nationwide.

The Universidad Europea de Madrid and Banco Santander announce scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic year aimed at undergraduate, postgraduate and/or doctoral students who have outstanding academic records and have received a general scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training for the 2019/2020 academic year.

What is the Santander Progress Scholarship?

The scholarship lasts for one academic year and up to €1,000 is awarded.

Universidad Europea de Madrid students may apply for this scholarship provided they meet the following criteria:

  • The student must have received financial aid from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training or an equivalent scholarship or grant from the Department of Education of any autonomous community during the academic year immediately prior to applying for the grant. This is a compulsory requirement.
  • The student should have one of the best academic records for the academic year immediately prior to applications opening for the scholarship. This record shall be appraised according to the following criteria:
  1. Undergraduate students who are completing their first undergraduate programme shall be assessed according to their university entrance exam.
  2. All other undergraduate students shall be assessed according to their academic record for the 2019/2020 academic year. This assessment shall not take into account recognised subjects.
  3. Students commencing a postgraduate degree shall be assessed according to the average mark they earned on the undergraduate studies that allow them to pursue a master’s.
  4. Second-year postgraduate students shall be assessed according to their average mark in the first year (recognised subjects shall not be considered).
  5. Doctorate students shall be assessed according to the average mark they earned on the postgraduate studies that allowed them to pursue a doctorate.

In the event of a tie, we shall consider the number of subjects a student received the top mark, honours, in.

  • Whether any member of the student’s family falls into any of the following situations:

Unemployed or affected by a Temporary Employment Regulation File (Archivo de Regulación de Empleo Temporal) as a direct result of COVID-19; employed but with reduced working hours as a direct consequence of COVID-19; registered as self-employed and having received the supplementary benefit for cessation of activity; or a domestic worker who has received the supplementary allowance for lack of activity.
