Luis Calandre Burgueros

Dean of Creative Campus

Dear Students,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the Creative Campus and the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies — a unique, open, cosmopolitan, inclusive, multicultural, and transdisciplinary space of higher education where the designers, artists, and creative professionals of the future are trained. Here, we prepare you to face the global challenges arising from technological, ecological, social, and economic change, empowering you to propose innovative, bold, fair, and sustainable solutions that improve people’s lives, society, and the planet’s future.

The Creative Campus is an open, vibrant, and diverse ecosystem that fosters curiosity and a wide range of perspectives — a place to meet, share experiences, and promote collaboration, lateral thinking, and the development of skills that are difficult to automate due to their human, creative, and contextual nature. Design is progress: it is the conceptualization and creation of ideas, objects, places, systems, information, products, and services. Designers imagine, create, and use their skills in collaboration with others to make a positive impact on the world.

Our academic model is based on experiential (learning by designing) and collaborative learning, a transdisciplinary approach, and the use of applied design thinking methodologies across all disciplines. This is reinforced by a strong connection with industry, internationalization, diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism in our classrooms — all supported by the intensive use of cutting-edge technology.

The Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, and by extension the Creative Campus, aspires to become a benchmark in higher education for the creative industries through the contributions of its research groups and the creations and achievements of its students and faculty.

With enthusiasm and hope,
Warm regards,

Luis Calandre Burgueros
