Universidad Europea launches its new sustainability strategy

11 feb 2026
  • Under the slogan “Responsible talent, sustainable future,” the institution is committed to comprehensive sustainability

On Tuesday, Universidad Europea launched its new Sustainability Strategy, a roadmap that reinforces its commitment to a comprehensive and cross-cutting model. Under the slogan “Responsible talent, sustainable future,” it articulates a framework that integrates teaching, research, university management, and social commitment to respond to the main global challenges in this area.

ESG Portada

This strategy, which was born with a clear ambition to lead the field of higher education, is based on years of work in volunteering, inclusion, health, employability, innovation, and environmental improvement on campuses. This new step will now make it possible to organize, measure, and strengthen all these initiatives within a common, coherent, and cross-cutting vision.

This project builds on the momentum initiated with the creation of the first University School of Sustainability in Spain, which opened in September 2024. Its development will serve as a strategic framework to guide academic and management decisions, with the aim of consolidating Universidad Europea as a national and international benchmark in sustainable higher education.

For Maxine Kaisin, head of ESG strategy at Universidad Europea, “the goal is, above all, for each student to obtain more than just a degree, to acquire a way of understanding the world and acting in it with responsibility and commitment.”

‘Responsible talent, sustainable future’

This new strategy is based on one conviction: academic excellence only makes sense if it contributes to the common good. Under this premise, the concept of “responsible talent” drives the training of professionals capable of making informed and ethical decisions, managing with integrity, and promoting positive change in their organizations and in society.

The commitment to a “sustainable future” translates into a willingness to contribute, through education, research, and knowledge transfer, to a more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally friendly society.

With this project, sustainability ceases to be an accessory element and becomes a strategic axis of the university's mission, articulated around the three internationally recognized ESG pillars: Environmental, Social, and Governance. Each of these will have specific indicators and measurable objectives, guaranteeing a firm, comprehensive, and measurable commitment.
