Associate Professor
Teresa Fernández Pardo is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and Physiotherapy.
She holds a degree in Physiotherapy from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Master's in Respiratory and Cardiac Physiotherapy from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and is currently completing her PhD studies in the Medicine and Surgery program at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
She combines teaching at the Universidad Europea de Madrid since 2019 with clinical practice, having over 15 years of experience in Spain and France. She currently works in the rehabilitation department at Ramón y Cajal Hospital (Madrid).
80 healthy subjects (40 habitual yoga practitioners and 40 non-practitioners), without previous respiratory pathology participated in this study. During maximum diaphragmatic breathing, the diaphragmatic thickness (at rest and after maximum inspiration), excursion, velocity and contraction time were measured by ultrasound.
