PhD Gema Flores Monreal

PhD in Food Science and Technology (Cum Laude) from UAM-CSIC, with a master's degree in Nutrition from Columbia University. She has worked at prestigious institutions such as CSIC, the University of Reading, the City University of New York, and Columbia University, benefiting from scholarships like FPI, EMBO, and MICINN, as well as contracts funded by NIH. Her research has focused on developing analytical methods to characterize polyphenols with preventive activity against neurodegenerative diseases, COPD, and cancer, and studying the interaction of these compounds with the human microbiota. She has authored nearly 60 articles in scientific journals indexed in JCR and presented her findings at international conferences. Currently, she is a professor in the Master's in Sports Nutrition and Master's in Teacher Training at Universidad Europea, as well as a scientific consultant, supporting tech SMEs and health start-ups in securing funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC).
