Cristina Berlanga Velasco is a professor at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. She has a degree in physiotherapy from the CEU San Pablo University and a Master in Motor Neurocontrol from the Rey Juan Carlos University. She is an expert physiotherapist in neurological disorders and combines her teaching and research activity with the treatment of young and adult patients with neurological disorders and intellectual disabilities, with 20 years of clinical experience. Her areas of research interest are intellectual disability and postural control, vojta therapy, evolutionary biology and paleoanthropology, as well as neuroscience in meditation.
People with Down Syndrome (DS) present sensory and motor control deficits that generate difficulties in their functional performance. The aim of the study was to analyze the short-term effects of two sessions with Whole Body Vibration Therapy (WBV) on balance, graphomotor skills and strength in a participant with DS.
