Master in Sustainability
The Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Circular Economy and ESG is aimed at people with an interest in sustainable business management, the social and environmental impact that organisations have and how they handle environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors.
In its report titled ‘Jobs in Sustainability and Environment’ (Empleo en sostenibilidad y medio ambiente), Spanish job site Infoempleo reveals how job opportunities related to sustainability and environment are on the rise, and will continue to increase significantly over the next few years. The green economy provides jobs to more than half a million people in our country, representing 2.5% of total jobs. This figure is expected to double in the next ten years, providing up to 1.7 million new jobs.
ESG criteria are becoming increasingly important for investors and, as a result, for company managers and executives. These criteria focus on three factors:
- Environmental: the impact of the business’ activity on the environment and what it does to mitigate it.
- Social: the impact that the company has on its local community.
- Governance: corporate governance within the company.

Employability
- Labour market
The circular economy will generate 24 million jobs in 2030 globally, according to the International Labour Organization. Its report ‘Impacts of circular economy policies on the labour market’ estimates that by 2030, the annual growth of employment related to circular economy will be 0.3%, amounting to around 700,000 new jobs. - Profile in high demand
In the coming years, companies will need more professionals who are trained in this area, as EU legislation is expanding on its ESG transparency requirements, while the number of companies that have the obligation to provide ESG information is increasing. This transparency will mean that consumers will be made aware of the environmental and social impacts of companies, compelling them to include ESG factors in their strategies and day-to-day management.
