Simulated Hospital

Much of the learning takes place in a practical simulation environment equipped with consultation rooms, emergency rooms, intensive care, resuscitation, hospitalisation area, etc. All of them are equipped with the most advanced technology.

Simulated Hospital

Students are trained in the application of theoretical knowledge in simulated scenarios with different levels of complexity, where techniques and procedures are applied. Here, students acquire communication skills, teamwork, and decision making. Much of the learning takes place in a practical simulation environment equipped with consultation rooms, emergency rooms, intensive care, resuscitation, hospitalisation area, surgical simulation area, etc. All of them are equipped with the most advanced technology.

The Bachelor degrees that can practice on in this Simulated Hospital are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology
Complex simulation room

Complex simulation room

This is an advanced simulation room with a high-performance simulator in which the scenario designed is controlled from a controls room, changing the physio-pathological response of the patient (simulator) according to the students’ interventions in the clinical and care situation. Here, both individual skills and knowledge, as well as teamwork, and communication skills are trained. There are multi-parametric monitoring display screens, screens to display complementary radiology and laboratory results from the test library. It is equipped with a video-recording system.

Debriefing room

Debriefing room

Pre-practice briefing and post-practice debriefing, with a focus on feedback. Both students and tutor analyse the activity carried out, pointing out the student’s strengths, and the aspects that need improving. Designed for the observation of students’ and lecturers’ practice through the wall-mirror, it allows students to remain isolated while carrying out the simulation. In addition, students are able to later review of the simulation recording, which allows a more detailed analysis.

Nursing room

Nursing room

A nursing laboratory with four full workstations and a supervising station. This room realistically imitates the primary-care environment of an area of hospitalisation or emergency observation room. It is equipped with the necessary material to recreate clinical cases with medium and high complexity simulators, in which students can carry out all types of simulated care activities, through the design of customised scenarios. This ranges from the most basic care activities, such as taking biological samples, interviews and physical examinations, to wound healing and invasive nursing care techniques and skills, as part of the Advanced Life Support team. It has 4 hospital beds, nursing control and workstations.

Task Training room

Task Training room

A room for the acquisition of technical skills, maneuvers and simple procedures. In the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, this room is used to practice different communication skills essential for the daily practice of a psychologist. Simple cases are mimicked by means of role playing. It is also possible to develop complex simulation scenarios, in order to evaluate the integration of different skills in the same case. In the Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing, this room is used for the development of nursing skills, through the use of low and medium complexity simulators. Students can also study courses on vital sign taking, sample extraction, venoclysis, and more. There is also an anatomy room with Atlases and models.

Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality

Virtual laboratories (virtual reality and interactive simulators). The University has licenses to access different virtual laboratories, available for both lecturers and students, such as: Labster, Learning Science and Body Interact, which facilitate practical learning supported by virtual simulation within different modules studied by various degree subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, etc.), as well as the effective improvement of clinical reasoning and decision making with virtual patients. Visible Body - 3D Atlas of Human Anatomy, allows the isolation of structures, the creation of customized views, examinations, and laboratory activities. It includes more than 10,000 anatomical models and more than 5,000 anatomical structures with medical accuracy, developed by medical illustrators trained in medicine and reviewed by leading anatomists.

Consultation Rooms

Consultation Rooms

The consultation rooms are designed so that the students can practice various situations, such as first making contact with a patient, welcoming the family, communicating bad news, etc. When training each skill, it is important that students are able to put themselves in such situations. Carrying out a practice scenario that resembles reality helps the student to recreate the situation in real life, and develop the skills that in the future they will need for their professional practice.
