Real Madrid UE to launch 12 sports-related Specializations on one of the world’s most popular online learning platforms
Coursera, Inc. (NYSE: COUR), one of the world’s leading online learning plataforms, has announced today that it is partnering with Real Madrid Graduate School Universidad Europea (Real Madrid UE), to offer world-class sports education content to learners across the globe.
The partnership with Real Madrid UE is one of several significant collaborations announced at Coursera’s annual conference in Las Vegas. Coursera is also unveiling new content partnerships with world-class universities including the University of Oxford, IMD Business School, and the University of London; and top industry partners including Amazon, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and XBOX.
Real Madrid UE initially plans to launch 12 Specializations on the Coursera platform, each covering key contemporary subjects at the intersection of sports, business, and physiology, including "Big Data and Data Analytics in Sports", "Sports Nutrition", and "Strength and Conditioning."
The partnership combines the expertise cultivated by Real Madrid C. F. pre-eminent position in the sporting world – as the first football club to exceed 1 billion Euros in annual revenues and recently securing a record 15th UEFA Champions League title - with Coursera’s expertise in the online learning space.
Real Madrid UE is a pioneering postgraduate institution dedicated entirely to sports. Their courses equip learners with the skills needed to forge successful careers across the sports industry, including business, technology, communication, law, psychology, training and physiotherapy. Coursera currently supports the skills development of over 2.4 million learners in Spain, who have enrolled for over 4.5 million courses, and recorded over 4.4 million learning hours on the platform. To further empower Spanish learners to gain the most in-demand skills required for the modern economy, Coursera has also leveraged Machine Learning-powered translation at scale to translate over 4700 of its courses into Spanish - one of 22 languages in which Coursera’s course portfolio is now available.
