Universidad Europea has taken its third year Global Sports Management students to New York to introduce them to some of the world's most prestigious sports organisations. An international corporate week in which the young people were taken deep into the heart of the sports industry, combining practical knowledge with unique networking opportunities.
Among the various activities, the university students received insights from experts from the New York Islanders and Match and learned directly from NHL executives about membership strategies. In addition, they visited the MetLife Stadium Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. where they explored the latest event operations at a world-class arena. This experience gave them a detailed insight into operational excellence and event management at major sports venues, adding an additional layer of practical knowledge to their learning. In addition, they listened to senior executives from the New York Red Bulls as they shared their Digital and Business Analytics initiatives. Conversations with leading figures have given them a unique insight into the increasingly important role of technology in shaping the sports industry.
The experience went beyond lectures and discussions to include an immersion into the world of college basketball during the #NCAAMarchMadness. This experience gave them a privileged look at one of the most iconic sporting events in the United States, providing a valuable context for their understanding of American sports culture. Finally, the students were also able to enjoy the best of NBA entertainment by attending a memorable showdown between the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden.
