Hundreds of students join in activities to commemorate Global Compact Day

25 sep 2025

Under the slogan ‘Together for the SDGs’, Universidad Europea has thrown itself into celebrating Global Compact Day. The Vice-Chancellor's Office for Students and University Life at Universidad Europea has organised a day in which students have learned, taken action and committed themselves to a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Throughout the day, students participated in activities designed to bring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) closer to them in a fun and engaging way. They followed a route with 17 stops, each dedicated to an SDG, where, through games, challenges and explanations from volunteers, they were able to reflect on the major global challenges. They also expressed their personal commitment on a collective wall, tested their knowledge in an express social laboratory and joined in a symbolic photograph under the SDG flag.

Elia Cambón, Vice-Rector for Students and University Life at Universidad Europea, highlighted the role of the University in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals. "We must be agents of change, we must fight against discrimination and promote inclusion and diversity in all our actions. We must be courageous, supportive and committed to the fight for a more equal world for all,‘ she said. In this regard, she recalled that ’universities have the opportunity to lead the way towards a more equitable and inclusive society, because we are the best possible environment for generating critical reflection on what a safe educational space means".

The celebration of this event joins other actions that Universidad Europea has been promoting in favour of the Sustainable Development Goals. Proof of this has also been its adherence to the Diversity Charter, an initiative of the Diversity Foundation backed by the European Commission that promotes equal opportunities and respect for difference in the workplace and in education.

Events such as today's demonstrate that university life at Universidad Europea transcends the academic sphere to become a real driving force for social commitment. The Vice-Rectorate for Students and University Life, through the Social Commitment Area, promotes the goal of training conscious professionals who are capable of integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into their personal and professional lives and contributing, through education, to a more inclusive and sustainable society.
