Biochemistry and Genetics Laboratory - Universidad Europea Andalucía
Located on Floor -1, with a surface area of 107.15 m² each, these laboratories are intended for the teaching of basic sciences. In this space, basic studies and research into biological processes can be carried out, developing activities in different areas such as Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Molecular Genetics, Microbiology, Applied Biotechnology, Human Microbiota, Botany and Applied Pharmaceutical Technology.
This space has been designed as a multidisciplinary area serving subjects in health sciences degrees, and is also equipped for the instrumental techniques required to develop subject-specific competences and promote research.
This space has the facilities and equipment needed for the acquisition and consolidation of practical knowledge that is integrated into subjects with complementary objectives, enabling observation and experimentation based on the study of biological and biochemical processes, as well as classical and molecular genetics.
This space provides health sciences students with an experience similar to that of a diagnostic laboratory for the analysis of microbiological samples, allowing them to learn basic techniques in cellular biology, cell and bacterial cultures, optical microscopy and phenotypic techniques. It will be possible to carry out microorganism collection, staining and selection techniques, with access to incubators, staining reagents and selective culture media for the correct identification of a microorganism.
The equipment in this laboratory is as follows:
- Integrated audio-video system connected to computers and a teaching microscope, plus bioinformatics analysis equipment.
- Optical microscopes and histological preparations.
- Inverted microscope, balances, shakers, bench centrifuges, heating plates, conductivity meter, pH meter, spectrophotometers, spectrofluorimeter, thermocyclers, HPLC and other basic equipment.
- Fume cupboard, class II biosafety cabinet, anaerobic chamber, reagent cabinet and staining reagents.
- Refrigerators, freezers, autoclaves, ovens, CO2 incubator, microwave, liquid nitrogen container and thermostatic bath.
