First-year students began their journey at Universidad Europea with a day of activities introducing them to the university’s facilities and services
Universidad Europea de Madrid marked the start of the 2026/2027 academic year with its traditional Welcome Day on 14 September. The event welcomed new students and helped them take their first steps in university life. It was held simultaneously in La Bombilla at the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus, the Creative Campus atrium and the Alcobendas entrance hall. At each location, students could visit stands and discover the spaces and services available to them.
Volunteers were also on hand at Welcome Points in campus buildings to offer directions, answer questions and help students find their way around on their first day.
Organised by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Students and University Life at Universidad Europea de Madrid, Welcome Day marked the beginning of a new academic and personal chapter: a chance to explore, take part and make connections with the university community.
Throughout the day, thousands of students spoke with staff at stands showcasing the services Universidad Europea offers beyond the classroom. These included Centro Impulsa, the International Relations Office (ORI), the Educational Guidance, Diversity and Inclusion Unit (ODI), the Academic Advisers and Student Support Office, the CRAI Library and School of Life, among many others.
Students also learned about university sport, student clubs, the support provided by student representatives and volunteers, and programmes they can join, such as the Buddy Program. The activities gave them an opportunity to meet classmates, discover new interests and feel part of the university community from day one.
Welcome Day also provided an opportunity to introduce AppUE, Universidad Europea’s new app, designed to support students in their daily lives. It brings together information and resources to help them navigate campus, access services and stay connected with what is happening in their academic community.
Through this event, Universidad Europea continues to develop a university experience that is welcoming, connected and centred on students, giving them access from their first day to the tools and opportunities that will help them make the most of this new chapter.
The Valencia and Alicante campuses also welcomed new students with activities designed to help them settle in. During the day, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Students, Dr Silvia Trujillo, addressed attendees. Students learned about the university’s main support services and resources, toured the facilities and discovered initiatives to help them adjust to university life.
The programme included activities and opportunities for students to meet one another, along with a Welcome Pack promoting healthy habits. These initiatives reflect Universidad Europea’s commitment to student wellbeing, participation and personal development.
On 10 September, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Campus welcomed its new students. The La Orotava Campus of Universidad Europea de Canarias followed on 14 September, opening its doors for an event featuring activities to help students get to know their new surroundings. At La Orotava, the rector spoke about the new laboratories and simulation facilities that will support the first cohorts of Medicine and Dentistry students at Universidad Europea de Canarias.
Cristiana Oliveira welcomed students at both events, reminding them that in this new chapter, “you should strive for excellence, which does not mean being the best, but always doing your best”. She also encouraged them to “make the most of all the resources and opportunities the university offers”.
The Welcome Day celebrations concluded with the official opening of the 2026/2027 academic year at Universidad Europea de Andalucía. At the welcome event, its rector, Daniel Hormigo, said: “Reaching this number in our second academic year is a milestone that shows the trust students and families have placed in our educational project.”
