Universidad Europea de Canarias held the fourth edition of Youth and Jobs on May 12 at Tenerife Espacio de las Artes TEA in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The well-attended event focused on digital transformation in companies and its impact on professionals. This edition was attended by Spanish Society for Innovation Management and Tourist Technology (SEGITTUR) President Antonio López de Ávila and Tenerife Young Entrepreneurs Association President Airam Rodríguez, as well as Universidad Europea de Canarias Rector Cristiana Oliveira.
López de Ávila, who is also a board member of Turespaña, stated that, in order to properly manage tourism in the Canary Islands, in particular, and in Spain, in general, “tourism managers must have a finger in every pie, as tourism is our major industry, impacting all sectors of the economy. It must not remain aloof to the digital transformation that is happening or the great business opportunities that come with it.”
The president of the young Tenerife entrepreneurs association explained that technology reduces costs and improves experiences in destinations. Rodríguez defended entrepreneurship as an opportunity to open up new market niches, and assured that “the entrepreneurial approach should be taught from the earliest stages of education.”
