On October 4, Roca Madrid Gallery was the chosen venue to present the ‘GreenBelt7Bridges’ project, which welcomed various teaching staff and architects from the Universidad Europea. The event was part of the 13th Edition of Madrid Architecture Week, which ended on October 9. The ‘GreenBelt7Bridges’ exhibition, presented to the public for the first time, is a research project that aims to build 7 green-bridges over Dishui lake in the new city of Lingang, in the Pudong district, Shanghai, China.
The local Chinese government has selected various international proposals, including the initiative submitted by Pedro Pablo Arroyo Alba, Francisco Domouso de Alba, José Luis Esteban Penelas, Lorenzo Fernández-Ordóñez and Fernando Porras-Isla. Sergio Calvo, Vice Rector of Doctor’s Degrees and Research, stressed that “the essence of this project is its multidisciplinary aspect. It is a project that combines research, engineering and architecture. And professors from different areas are working alongside their students. In short, a perfect example of how we understand research at the Universidad Europea”.
Pedro Pablo Arroyo and Fernando Porras-Isla-Fernández, architects and professors at Universidad Europea, were at the event to explain the project development and design process to the audience. The presentation was also attended by representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Spain. “When we were told we had been selected, we appreciated that the customer understood the uniqueness of the research project associated with the Universidad Europea with the participation of students, alumni and teaching staff from various departments”, highlighted Pedro Pablo Arroyo, a professor and member of the China Chair Committee during the presentation.
