The España se Mueve Institute counted on the collaboration of the Universidad Europea for a new program in the ‘Madrid se Mueve’ series broadcast by Telemadrid. The feature included tips and personal opinions from Sport Science professors and students to raise public awareness on the benefits of sport and taking care of your body to tackle daily challenges.
Francisco López, dean of the School of Sports Science, stressed that “the act of innovating has been vital for us to find new and improved methods for training our students and making them into excellence professionals in physical activity, sports management or physical therapy”. Furthermore, “the goal of this innovation has also had an internal impact with projects focused on students and professors”, concluded López. Director of the School of Physical Activity and Health Department, Álvaro Fernández, highlighted the ‘Madrid se Mueve’ programs on osteoporosis, directed by Margarita Pérez, for employees, and on physical therapy, with the collaboration of professor Mónica García, for students treating athletes at events.
On behalf of the students, Alejandro Sánchez, 4th year student on the Degree in Physical Therapy program, stated that: “taking part in these events has helped me unify and improve my academic specialty with the sport I’ve always played, rugby”. Professor Brigit Strotmann says that, “as a working mother, having the opportunity to play sport in the workplace has been very convenient. Sport has created a spirit of solidarity in the team and I feel better about myself for doing something that is good for my health”.
