Universidad Europea recruits patients for a research project on diathermy on lower back-pelvic

26 may 2016

This May, Universidad Europea, in collaboration with Enraf Nonius-PRIM , launched a research project to assess the effect of diathermy, deep-heat, on lower back-pelvic pain.

Led by doctors David Rodríguez Sanz and César Calvo Lobo, the research aims to determine pain, functionality, mobility, assess activation using ultrasound and RUSI techniques, tensiomyography to assess contractility, as well as sonoelastography.

Lower back pain is the most common musculoskeletal disorder, in fact, up to 80% of people will suffer lower back pain at some time in their lives. At the same time, almost 60% of the treatments applied for lower back pain by the Spanish health service have no studies to back their scientific basis, generating a cost of millions of euros, making this research project of extreme interest in terms of public health. Other members of the research team include doctors Beatriz Martínez Pascual, Silvia Fernández Martínez, Mónica de la Cueva Reguera and Ignacio Díez Vega.

To take part in the study, which combines instrumental manual therapy and diathermy, just send an email to David.rodriguez22@universidadeuropea.es or cesar.calvo@universidadeuropea.es
