On October 6, Universidad Europea held the first ‘Madrid, international university destination’ conference at the Alcobendas Campus. The goal was to promote the region of Madrid as a preferred destination among international students. The event was inaugurated by the Mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, with a video recorded for the occasion.
After the formal presentation, there were three round tables to debate the virtues of studying in the region of Madrid, the prospects of a foreigner in Madrid, and case studies in other countries. Some of the conclusions reached included the advantages of the language and the need for better promotion abroad.
Speakers at the event included Carlos Espinosa, High Commissioner for Marca España; Pablo Martín, director of SEPIE; Isabel Duran, Vice Rector for Institutional Relations and Cooperation at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid; Marc Dugge, chairman of the Circle of Foreign Correspondents in Spain; Alexey Pudovkin, Education officer at the Erasmus+ Student Spain network; Fabrizio Landi, Italian Alumni of the Universidad Europea; Virginia Greville, Ambassador for Australia in Spain; Christopher Quode, cultural attaché of the US Embassy in Spain; Mikkel Larssen, Communication attaché of the Danish Embassy in Spain; and Fernando Martínez, general director of the Universidad-Empresa Foundation.
