Last Wednesday, June 8, Universidad Europea de Valencia hosted the presentation and showing of the documentary “Un sol para Dominicana”, a project directed by Alberto Pla for the SOLCA Foundation. In this initiative, several second- and fourth-year Translation and Intercultural Communication undergraduates, coordinated by professor Lynn Summerfield, created and adjusted English subtitles.
“Un sol para Dominicana” aims to show the efforts of the Solca Foundation, a Calasanctian nonprofit, in the areas of health, sports, and education to improve the living conditions of people in the Dominican Republic.
In the presentation, some students said they were “proud to see that our work will have an impact outside the classroom for the first time” and that “the process, though difficult, was very rewarding.”
