June 5 is World Environment Day – an initiative promoted by the United Nations since 1973 – and the Universidad Europea is fully committed to this day for raising awareness on the risks that threaten the planet, encouraging society to contribute to sustainable development and inviting everyone to discover nature so we can enjoy it in the future.
To mark the day, in addition to the thousands of events and activities that will be organized on Monday relating to the natural environment, the Universidad Europea invites the entire university community to visit the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus and discover its botany through the project Senda Botánica UE. New technologies will allow participants to identify all the species registered (and accompanied by an informative sign) by scanning the QR code on the identification signs with their cell phone. They will also have access to a directory with full information on the species scanned.
Senda Botánica UE is a university research project that was launched at the Universidad Europea in 2013, with participants including professors and students from the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences and the School of Architecture, Engineering and Design. The project aims to use the botanical species found at the Campus as an academic and teaching tool for professors and students. To this end, all species were marked with identification signs bearing QR codes so that anyone interested can see full information on the species.
