The Universidad Europea's School of Biomedical and Health Sciences and Fundación CurArte have launched the Master in Health Humanization, an academic program that aims to provide students and health care professionals in any field with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to contribute to furthering humanization in health care.
The Master has the support of the Department of Health in the Region of Madrid and the collaboration of five important companies: Atlantic Copper, Carburos Metálicos, Grupo Cofares, Philips and the Ruber Internacional Hospital. The first edition will begin in October for the 2018-2019 academic year, and will be taught as a blended learning degree (80% online and 20% campus based). The program will be directed by Ms. Carmen Ferrer Arnedo, and will receive consulting from an expert on educational programs from Fundación CurArte, Joaquín Aguilera, and will be taught by an excellent faculty made up of different expert collaborators and professors from Universidad Europea. Designed for professionals directly involved in health care and health care management (with training in medicine, nursing, clinical psychology, pharmacy, physical therapy, nutrition, etc.), the Master in Health Humanization arises from a need to make the patient the focus of health care.
Thus, the aim is for people to practice self-care and to take control of their health situation, and to provide comprehensive care that considers the individual and their environment. Getting people to become the focus of the health care panorama begins with all of us participating to make changes to services. In terms of topics to be covered in the Master's Thesis, students will explore issues such as the role of the family and caretakers in humanization, the use of Big Data to offer customized care, and developing skills such as communication, stress management, and leadership.
