The Universidad Europea was at the Spartan Race, a steeplechase held in Valencia on December 3. A research team from the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences carried out an innovative medical study of the participants to determine the minimum requirements any person would need to enter this very demanding type of race.
The initiative, coordinated by Professor Vicente Javier Clemente, gave participants the option of seeing whether they had the minimum psychological and physical requirements needed to complete such a demanding race, and their risk of injury. These data will also enable them to create efficient training programs, nutritional strategies and prevention plans.
The results will be published in March 2017, coinciding with the start of the new season.
