The effect of prejudice against anyone is often distressing. Prejudice against people with disabilities becomes a major barrier which affects their development and their participation in society and work.
This is the premise of the awareness raising campaign #Reacciona developed by the Adecco Foundation to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities established by the United Nations (December 3), with the support of the Universidad Europea.
Our academic institution joins many entities which are responding to this campaign in order to condemn and generate dialog about the over-protection, bullying and workplace discrimination suffered by people with disabilities. All of these barriers appear in different ways, in various areas of life, and generate very negative consequences, as they become the main factor excluding this collective. The campaign is based around the website fundacionadecco.org/reacciona/nohaylimites.html where the stories of Alejandro, Patricia, Manuel and Javier show how these factors affect individuals.
#NoHayLimites is the soundtrack which the actor and singer Juan Manuel Montilla, El Langui, has contributed to #Reacciona. This song is an adaptation of the Adecco Foundation’s Ability Manifesto, an invitation to everyone to break down barriers and stereotypes, living with an attitude based on respect and open to people’s diversity. The single is available on Spotify and can be downloaded free of charge here.
