The Universidad Europea held the Leaders for Change meeting on 31 October, which was attended by leading experts in social change from the fields of finance, human resources, telecommunications, and CSR. The event, held as part of the Laureate International Universities, Global Days of Service 2016 initiative, allowed speakers to debate the role of companies as key players in the positive impact on people’s lives and on society.
The meeting was attended by Charlotte Finn, VP EMEA at Salesforce.org; Antoni Ballabriga, Global Head of Responsible Business at BBVA and President of DIRSE; and Francisco Román, President of Vodafone España and Fundación Vodafone, as well as Fundación SERES. Leaders for Change was also attended by Eva Pilar Carro, a student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Law and International Relations at the Universidad Europea; and Eker Hurtado, an alumnus who received a prize at the last edition of the Young Social Entrepreneurs Awards and founder of the social company Nostoc Biotech, who debated and talked about their concerns with Francisco Román.
The leaders in social changed talked to students about the activities and commitments they have adopted in order to make a positive impact on their communities. Among the cases presented, Finn shared the Salesforce model, in which philanthropy is integrated into business strategy, increasing employee’s commitment. “At Salesforce we have changed the concept of philanthropy, making it into the heart of the company”, underlined the Salesforce EMEA Vice President.
