The rector of Universidad Europea de Valencia, Amparo Galbis, participated as a volunteer in the second edition of the “Kuwa Project” initiative, developed by the Universidad Europea in collaboration with the NGO Volunteers to Kenya. This project is part of the University Program for Development (UpD) launched by CRUE’s University Cooperation Observatory for Development.
A total of 10 members, 8 of whom were students from the institution, flew to Nairobi and collaborated in various support actions for the improvement of the facilities. Prior to the trip, the students carried out a crowdfunding campaign and a charity event to raise money to provide mattresses, sheets, blankets, basic health materials, textbooks, and food to stock an orphanage housing 480 children.
An experience that “is without a doubt a lesson in humanity that highlights the need for solidarity to alleviate growing poverty, in the face of which the only correct thing to do is to act” commented Amparo upon her return. This project is another example of the Universidad Europea’s mission, which is characterized by a model oriented towards social impact through education as a key tool in generating a positive impact.
