On Wednesday, June 6, Universidad Europea de Valencia held the swearing-in ceremony for its new Rector, Amparo Galbis Córdova, in a solemn event presided by the Director General of University, Research and Science, Josefina Bueno Alonso; Juan Morote, Rector of Universidad Europea and Galbis’ predecessor in the post; and the director of Universidad Europea de Valencia, Ismael Olea.
The ceremony, held at the Ateneo Mercantil of Valencia, was attended by various public authorities, in addition to the aforementioned Director General of University, Research and Science, including the mayor of Agullent, Jesús Pla, who represents the Rector's home town. Also present were the Rector of CEU San Pablo, Rosa Visiedo, and the Rector of Universidad Católica de Valencia, José Manuel Pagán, as well as representatives from most of the universities in the Region of Valencia. Additionally, University personnel, faculty, and friends and family filled the Ateneo’s assembly hall.
In her speech, Amparo Galbis said that in the 11 years she has been working in different roles at Universidad Europea de Valencia, she has always “felt like I was a part of this great institution, and I continue to have the same excitement as I did at the very beginning, and the strength that comes with a commitment to the University I represent.” Moreover, Galbis stated that she was convinced of the “excellence of our academic model, focused on the individual, and on their ability to be educated to achieve a more ethical, fair, and responsible world.”
The Rector of Universidad Europea and Galbis’ predecessor in the post, Juan Morote, handed over the symbols of the office of the Rector to the new academic leader of the Valencian institution.
