Wednesday September 27 saw the inauguration of the academic year at the Attorneys School run by the Universidad Europea and law firm Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, an initiative designed to train technically-excellent attorneys who can provide complex solutions to the problems faced by businesses and individuals today. The event, held in Alcobendas, was attended by the Minister for Justice, Rafael Catalá, the Dean of the Professional Association of Attorneys of Madrid, Sonia Gumpert, CEO of the law firm, Javier Cremades, and Dean at the Universidad Europea School of Social Sciences and Communication, Marta Muñiz.
Guests got a first-hand look at the revolutionary project in teaching Law. Future Law professionals will have dual graduate training and full immersion in the top-level legal profession, with internships at the law firm with prestigious, experienced national and international professionals. The Attorneys School proposes a new system for teaching students to work as attorneys from day one, preparing them to practice internationally, enabling them to acquire the techniques and skills inherent to professional practice and preparing them to successfully tackle the modern-day challenges of the legal profession.
Javier Cremades, CEO of the law firm, stressed that the Attorneys School aims to respond to this problem as we must “reconnect with the work of businesses with the needs of society, creating shared value.” During his speech, the Minister for Justice noted that “this alliance highlights that there is a background reflection on a need in today’s society.” Other guests at the inauguration included former Minister César Antonio Molina; former Mayor of Madrid, José María Álvarez del Manzano, and Dean of the Professional Association of Attorneys of Málaga, Francisco Javier Lara Peláez.
