Teaching staff from the Universidad Europea School of Architecture take part in the 2nd Edition of the Cities Forum in Madrid

23 sep 2016

In June, Madrid hosted the 2nd Edition of the Cities Forum, part of the TECMA trade fair, during which teaching staff from the Universidad Europea School of Architecture shared their projects and ideas on the future of cities in a global environment.

The event focused on three major themes related to the complexity of managing urban flows, the tools for planning and regenerating urban spaces correctly, social innovation in cities, and urban design and adapting to the environment in the sustainable city of the future. The last section was moderated by professor of Urban Planning and History, Francisco Javier González.

One of the challenges addressed by those attending the debate on the future of sustainable cities was its planning. Professor of Architecture, Carlos Arroyo, also took part in the debate to address this issue, stressing that “we must start to think about doing things differently. It’s a cultural question”. Speaking of the projects he takes part in, Arroyo said that “in central Africa, in rapidly developing economies that lack an advanced economy, the importance and use of ICTs are essential”.
