Teaching staff at the Universidad Europea School of Biomedical Science receive the 1st SECF Award for Excellence in Teaching Physiology

On September 14, teaching staff at the Universidad Europea School of Biomedical Science received the 1st SECF Award for Excellence in Teaching Physiology. The award is given by the Spanish Society of Physiological Sciences (SECF), rewards the project for transforming a classic Physiology class into a theoretical and practical workshop to explain an integrating physiological concept such as chronobiology.

The proposal, entitled Theoretical and practical workshop for understanding how the nervous system impacts circadian rhythms: What physiological mechanisms set our internal clock?, consisted of integrating a model where core subjects are horizontally interrelated throughout the course, and clinical subjects vertically integrate with core subjects over the years.

On January 1, the committee set up to assess the projects submitted decided in favor of the proposal created by Universidad Europea teaching staff. The prize, consisting of €1,000 and a diploma, was presented during the 38th SECF Conference, held on September 14 in Zaragoza. Dr. Ana María Sánchez and teachers Clara Azpeleta Noriega, Beatriz Gal Iglesias, Antonio Sobrado de Vicente-Tutor, among others, are extremely pleased with the personal recognition and for setting the Universidad Europea up as a benchmark for teaching in Spain among the university community.
