Russian basketball club Khimki includes a Universidad Europea professor in its coaching staff

BC Khimki has officially announced Sports Science professor Alejandro García as the team’s trainer for next season. Sports Science professor at Universidad Europea will join the Russian coaching staff led by coach from Montenegro Dusko Ivanovic. With his vast experience in basketball and physical activity, Alejandro has been a trainer and assistant coach at various Spanish clubs, including Club Baloncesto Las Rozas, the Spanish women’s under 20 team and the Club Ros Casares.

Alejandro García has been linked to Universidad Europea as a graduate of the Master's in Training and Nutrition, and since 2011 as a doctor and professor of New Technologies in sport, coordinator of the Ecuador Project and head of the Competition Analysis Laboratory. As a professor he has also combined his teaching work with professional basketball as a trainer and assistant coach of Liga EBA team Euroconsult Alcobendas and Tuenti Móvil Estudiantes men’s junior team from 2012 to 2015.

After receiving the news Alejandro García said, “I’m facing this new opportunity with lots of enthusiasm and a desire to work with one of the most important coaches in European basketball. When talking about his time at Universidad Europea, Alejandro stated: “the last five years teaching have allowed me to explore new professional possibilities. I’ll always remember the school’s faculty members and the time shared with colleagues from different fields who have made me grow both professionally and personally”. Regarding the future García said, “I might consider coming back to a place like Universidad Europea to share my experiences in this new stage in Russia with students.”
