Review of the pioneering Summer camp on Intensive Therapy for Children with Cerebral Palsy

This summer, the Universidad Europea hosted–– the Intensive Therapy Camp, a pioneering initiative in Spain aimed at boys and girls affected by Cerebral Palsy, between July 17 and August 3. The project included the collaboration of the Fundación DACER along with advice from several  esearchers at the University of Columbia, who have been forerunners in this type of initiative since 1997.

The objective of the camp was to promote research in order to gain an insight into the different therapies applied to children with this type of disability, based on a concept such as neuroplasticity, in order to bring about cerebral changes in children with hemiparesis. The overall structure is as a series of activities in a fun-filled setting, and with consideration for individualized treatment. Thus, researchers increased their knowledge of other forms of intensive therapy, its dosage and nature in order to determine the most effective course of treatment.
