The Universidad Europea de Canarias and the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz have signed a collaboration agreement allowing students to undertake curricular and extracurricular internships in the council's various departments. The internship will give them direct contact with the reality faced in a public entity during their training course.
The agreement was signed on August 29 by the Rector of the Universidad Europea de Canarias, Cristiana Oliveira, and the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Domingo Afonso Hernández, who valued the importance of the collaboration due to the “need to contribute to the comprehensive education of students by complementing their theoretical and practical learning”. The aim of this agreement is to “provide knowledge of working methods suited to the professional reality the students will work in, testing and applying their acquired knowledge”.
In the words of the University’s Rector “it is important to reach these kinds of agreements because they serve to bring both public and private corporations closer to students, and mean that theoretical and practical training go hand in hand from the first day of the course”.
