The tour was organized with the collaboration of professor David J. Calvo Rodríguez, graduate of Humanities and History of Castilla la Mancha University. The students saw the city, specifically visiting some of the big hospitals in Toledo like“Santa Cruz” founded by Cardenal Mendoza. Once a hospice, it came to house more than 500 children, known as “foundlings.”
The city in Toledo contains a long list of old hospitals, and during the visit the students saw first-hand, among other things, the influence the Jewish and Arab culture had on medicine, because some of these old hospitals were in use well into the 20th century.
