The Universidad Europea, in an attempt to reinforce ethical awareness, individual social responsibility and the capacity to generate impact, has signed up to a new initiative entitled Friday Revolution. Conscious of the need to offer students transforming experiences, Friday Revolution is an awareness project that encourages Universidad Europea students to become volunteers during periods of low academic activity.
Friday Revolution aims to promote volunteering and raise awareness among students at the Universidad Europea of problems in their community. To do this, Friday Revolution enables students to use part of their time on Friday afternoons and at the weekend to help beneficiary groups. Students can volunteer at organizations specializing in children at risk of exclusion, the homeless, families with scarce resources, restoring homes or the disabled. Any students interested in the initiative must fill in the registration form and choose their preferred activity.
The initiative was devised with Cooperación Internacional, an NGO that has been working since 1993 to promote charity among young people. Since its foundation, it has organized over 120 projects, bringing in around 4,500 volunteers -including 800 young people- and benefiting over 150,000 people directly with help from 168 charity groups. Previously, Universidad Europea students have taken part in the 10th Business Solidarity Day promoted by Cooperación Internacional, a social initiative held as part of the Global Days of Service 2016 at Laureate International Universities.
