“Exercise is Medicine” endorses the Master's Degree in Physical Activity and Health

09 may 2017

The global health initiative “Exercise Is Medicine”, accredited by the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM), has endorsed the Master’s Degree in Physical Activity and Health offered by the Real Madrid Graduate School - Universidad Europea. This makes this course one of the only two postgraduate programs in Spain to have received this recognition, which aims to introduce prescribing physical exercise in the national health system, and also focuses on multidisciplinary integration of health care professionals (Primary Care physicians, pediatricians, nurses, physical therapists, nutritionists, and Physical Activity and Sport Science professionals).

As stated by the Chairman of Exercise Is Medicine Spain (EIM-S), José Antonio Casajus, training professionals in prescribing and developing physical exercise programs is the cornerstone of the success of these initiatives.  The Universidad Europea Masters Degree in Physical Activity and Health meets these expectations, and that is why it has the support of EIM-S”.

Lidia Brea, director of the Master program, says that receiving the endorsement of EIM-S is a major guarantee of the quality of our program and the teaching staff who give the classes. This institution aims to promote physical exercise in the national health system with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. These pillars are the basis for this Master, which has physicians, physical therapists, Physical Activity and Health Science graduates, nutritionists, biologists and physiologists to provide students with the knowledge they need to fulfill this objective. It is without a doubt a turning point for our degree program”.
