The project from Alicante entitled Disabled Park received the Special Award from the Panel at the VIII Young Social Entrepreneurs Awards by Universidad Europea.The event, which took place on September 21 at the Alcobendas Campus, chose the initiative by Ana Puertas (from Elche) from among the 10 projects selected.
Ana Huertas has been working since 2012 on an application that uses geolocation to search for and identify available parking spaces and offers disabled people the option to find available parking spaces in their district or city. Disabled Park also shares information on the adaptability of any event or location, and offers users or companies the chance to collaborate with the platform via the option to sponsor a space.
The Special Award from the Panel was presented to Ana Puertas by Miguel Carmelo, President of Universidad Europea and CEO of Laureate International Universities Europe during the award ceremony, who highlighted the spirit of Disabled Park with the YSE Awards. These awards have become a benchmark in social entrepreneurship and, every year, the finalists seek social transformation and environmental protection.
