Digital transformation and talent management up for debate at the Universidad Europea

On June 1, the Universidad Europea was the venue for the 2017 Annual Summit of the American Business Council, entitled “Digital Transformation and Talent Management: Challenges and Opportunities”, to discuss talent, managing talent and generating talent from an educational and business perspective. Miguel Carmelo, President of the American Business Council, inaugurated the event by emphasizing the trust US business still place in Spain; the US is the main investor country in Spain with over €43 billion, representing 17% of direct foreign investment.

Next on the agenda was the first round table on digital transformation with participants including Enrique Polo de Lara, Managing Director of Salesforce Iberia Fernando Ruiz, CEO of Deloitte; José Manuel Petisco, Managing Director of Cisco; Adán Plaza, Managing Director of Accenture Technology; Alejandro Pociña, CEO of Steelcase. The speakers agreed on the speed at which society is facing the digital revolution and the capacity of businesses to adapt to this challenge.

Finally, there was a second debate on managing talent, moderated by the CEO of Sodexo Carina Cabezas, with the participation of Antón Valero, Chairman of DOW Chemical; Juan Orti, CEO of AMEX; Miguel Gómez Navarro, Rector of the Universidad Europea; Pilar Santiago, Managing Partner for Financial Services & Digital at Heidrick & Struggles; and Raúl Grijalba, CEO of ManpowerGroup. This last debate stressed how the business sector is committed to promoting talent through different educational programs aimed at employees.
