4th and 5th year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry took part in the 2nd Scientific Meeting on Oral Pain and Pathology at the Hospital Clínico, Madrid

28 nov 2016

A group of 4th and 5th year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry attended the 2nd Scientific Meeting on Oral Pain and Pathology on November 18 at the Hospital Clínico de Madrid organized jointly with the Spanish Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology Society (SEGG) and the Spanish Gerodontology Society (SEGER). The meeting took the form of several round tables, which discussed aspects of ‘Pain in the elderly: differentiating characteristics’ and ‘Orofacial pathology presenting with pain’.

The event also included a practical workshop on ‘TJD pathology: Infiltrations in clinical cases’. The Dentistry students attending the event were accompanied by Dr. Somacarrera, Dr. Díaz, Dr. Martín and Dr. Grando, professors of Medical Pathology at the Universidad Europea. Dr. Carmen Benito Vicente, president of SEDCYDO and professor at the Universidad Europea, was on the panel in the 2nd round table, on ‘Temporomandibular joint dysfunction’.

The students had the opportunity to complete their training on orofacial pain through outside activity. A total of six scientific studies on orofacial pain in its diagnostic and therapeutic aspects were presented with the participation of the Universidad Europea and the collaboration of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil), Universidade de Florianópolis (Brazil) and the Complutense University of Madrid. The Universidad Europea’s Dentistry Department encourages students and professors to take part in the conferences and courses of scientific societies to enrich and complement their academic training.
